Celebrating Lish’s Birthday in the pediatric epilepsy penthouse:

I must admit, so far I’m a little disappointed in our vacation accommodations.

A volunteer greeted us with stickers, but no offer to carry our luggage.

Oh well, for the price of a Sandal’s Resort, this metropolitan hotspot’s sure to be all-inclusive.

How wrong I was.

“Margarita.  Top shelf.  Blended please.”

Why not ask for the best?  After all, today is Lish’s 28th Birthday.

“The only drinks we serve here, Sir, are from Styrofoam cups.  We do have a fine selection of water: room temperature, ice cold, or frozen.”

I don’t regret accepting the beverage recommendation.  I was so parched from carrying a cooler and 3 bags of luggage my muscles looked like beef jerky.

When we arrived at our suite on the 7th floor I ran to the window and flung aside the curtains.  The view is not what I expected.  Our ocean front penthouse has several obstructing architectural catastrophes.  The worst part is that I can hear the tide rolling in and out.  It sounds eerily similar to rush hour traffic.

The resort coordinator has been the best part thus far.  Caleb got to make Lish a birthday present, he hugged a dog named Stella, and he played Nintendo with a friend.

We’re currently in “Hurry up and wait mode”.  When Dr. MD (I think he’s some kind of DJ), comes to the resort, Caleb’s going to get his head adorned with glue and wires.  Rumor has it this is similar to getting dreadlocks for boys or hair beads for girls.

I’ll keep posting when there is more to report.  Maybe I’ll go lay out in the fog and get a mist.  Hopefully SPF 50 is enough protection…
